So, QPR manager Mark Hughes says managers ‘losing faith in referees’ while refs feel intimidated by incensed played surrounding the officials after making controversial decisions.

The solution is simple.

1. Introduce retrospective punishment for ALL acts of negative sportsmanship behaviour.
   Remember Rivaldo’s cheat in the 2002 world cup? Rivaldo was consequently given a ban, the Turkish player’s card was rescinded.
   Let’s get Derry’s card overturned and give Young a three match ban. The actions won’t help QPR on the pitch yesterday, but it will make divers think twice in the future.
2. Adopt a rugby union approach to refereeing.
   Sin bins for all players surrounding the referee. Captains are explained the decision away from a mob of players. Should the captain get pissy, he can also be given a sin bin. 

Officials have no right to complain about their treatment on the pitch if they or their footballing organisation will do nothing to combat the issue.
